Should I speak to the police or participate in an interview?
No. If the police want to interview you, obtain legal advice before answering any questions. In most cases, you should exercise your right to remain silent until you have spoken with a lawyer. Contact NFK Lawyers immediately so I can advise you based on your specific circumstances.
Do you offer private representation and Legal Aid?
Yes. I offer both fixed-fee private representation and Legal Aid assistance where you are eligible. I will explain your options, costs and likely outcomes at the outset so you can make an informed decision.
Can I apply for Bail if I have been refused bail?
Yes. Depending on your circumstances, it may be possible to make a further bail application. I will assess your situation and advise whether there are reasonable prospects of obtaining bail.
Should I plead guilty?
Do not plead guilty until you have obtained legal advice. A guilty plea has significant consequences and should only be entered after carefully considering the evidence, available defences and the likely outcome.
A family member has been arrested. What should I do?
Call me immediately. If possible, have your family member’s full name, date of birth, where they are being held and their MIN (Master Index Number). I will contact the police station, speak with your family member where possible, advise them of their rights, and assist with bail and Legal Aid applications if they are eligible.
