About Negin Fard

Strategic Criminal Defence

Since my admission as a solicitor on 15 February 2013, I have built extensive experience in criminal law, representing clients from summary matters through to serious indictable charges. I approach every case with meticulous preparation, strategic thinking and a commitment to achieving the strongest possible outcome.

Broad Legal Perspective

My experience extends beyond criminal defence to family law, civil litigation, wills and estates, conveyancing, personal injury, motor vehicle claims and commercial matters. This broader legal background allows me to recognise issues that may extend beyond the immediate criminal charge and approach each matter from a wider strategic perspective.

Trusted by Families

Many clients and their families come to me during the most difficult periods of their lives. My professional and personal understanding of mental health, trauma and addiction helps me identify underlying issues, build trust and pursue outcomes focused on justice, rehabilitation and, where appropriate, treatment. Clients know they will be heard without judgment and represented with discretion and commitment.

A Personal Understanding of Complex Human Circumstances

My approach to criminal defence has been shaped not only by my legal career, but by my own life experiences.

Before studying law, I spent over eight years working in accounting and business while completing a degree in E-Business, majoring in Accounting.

Following a serious motor vehicle accident, I was unable to work for an extended period and pursued a compensation claim. Experiencing first-hand what it was like to rely on lawyers during a difficult period of my life reignited a long-held ambition to become a lawyer. While recovering, I enrolled in law school and completed my law degree.

I initially intended to practise in taxation and revenue law, completing a major in taxation and achieving strong academic results. My career, however, ultimately took an unexpected direction—one that proved far more aligned with the lawyer I wanted to become.

Near the completion of my Practical Legal Training, an unexpected meeting with a criminal defence solicitor at Downing Centre Local Court changed the course of my career. He became my first mentor and employer and introduced me professionally to criminal law, an area in which I had long been interested.

I went on to work closely with highly experienced criminal barristers on complex matters and, after obtaining my unrestricted practising certificate, continued working alongside senior counsel for almost a decade before developing my own independent practice.

Since my admission as a solicitor on 15 February 2013, I have practised across criminal law, family law, civil litigation, wills and estates, property and conveyancing, personal injury, motor vehicle accident claims and commercial matters. My practice is now dedicated almost exclusively to criminal defence.

Through both my professional work and personal experiences supporting loved ones affected by mental illness, trauma and addiction, I have developed a deep understanding of the human circumstances that can sit behind criminal charges. I take the time to understand the whole person—not simply the allegations—and, where appropriate, pursue outcomes that recognise treatment, rehabilitation and justice.

Clients often tell me they feel comfortable discussing matters they have never shared with others. I believe trust is earned through honesty, compassion and genuine commitment. Every client deserves to be heard, respected and fiercely represented, regardless of their background or circumstances.

“When your reputation, liberty and future are at stake, experience matters.”
